SUMMER READING CLUB RULES
Who gets a summer reading log? Everybody who signs up for the club!
Any child through 5th grade who is reading independently may sign up to be a summer reader and receive a log to track reading progress. Readers may complete as many logs as they want throughout the summer to be eligible for prizes. Readers will record time read. Each clock in the log equals 1 hour. When 5 hours (5 clocks) in the log are finished, readers are eligible for an entertainment coupon for each of the first 3 logs. For the 4th log completed, readers will receive an FPL backpack and a book. The first 175 to complete log 4 will also receive 2 tickets to an Arkansas Naturals baseball game. For every log completed, readers enter their name in the drawing for end-of-summer grand prizes to be announced Saturday, August 1, at the conclusion of the 10:30 Trout Fishing performance.
Listeners may enroll in the program as a listener and get a listening log at the Children’s Desk. Parents and caregivers record the title of each book read to the child in their log. For every 6 books, the child earns a sticker. When the log is filled, the child may choose a book as a prize. Listeners may fill up as many logs as they want throughout the summer.
Record each book, audio book, or ebook that you read in your log. Then bring your log to the library on your next visit, and we will enter you into the prize drawings. Each book enters you into the weekly prize drawing. Every five books enters you into the grand prize drawings.
When are reading logs due in order to be eligible to win grand prizes?
All logs are due by Wednesday, July 29, by 8 p.m. Grand prize drawings will take place on Saturday, August 1 at 10:30am.
Rising seventh graders are eligible to join the 7-UPS program. As 7-UPS, kids will volunteer at FPL for weekly activities in the Children's Department. Interested students can sign up for the program at the Children's Desk between May 1 and June 5.
