The Fayetteville Public Library Foundation was established in 1999 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the library’s ability to promote reading, knowledge acquisition and a love of literature.

Through the generous private support of many civic-minded individuals, foundations and corporations, the Foundation has provided funding to complete the construction of Blair Library and establish an endowment that allows the library to provide excellence in service delivery.

The Foundation’s Roberta Fulbright Society was created in 2006 as an annual giving society. Its current mission is to reach the National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) Challenge Grant goal by 2012. This grant will establish a $2M endowment to support expanding our collections and enhancing literary and humanities programming. It is an extraordinary honor for a library of our size to be a recipient of a NEH Challenge Grant—a grant which matches every donation by 33%.

Foundation-funded programs such as the Summer Reading Club keep the spirit of books and the thrill of discovery alive for all area residents. The Foundation also provides on-going funding, through its endowments and annual fundraising for collections, volunteer services, special services like our Nonprofit Resource Center, as well as our noteworthy children’s and adult programming – the kinds of services and programs that make FPL stand out as one of the best libraries in the nation.

Please join us in support of the Fayetteville Public Library. Your gift will help keep our Library one of the finest in the country – strengthening our community and empowering our citizens through free and public access to knowledge.
