Career Development

FPL offers several resources to advance your career and professional development. There are online courses meant to help with building a resume or brushing up on interviewing skills. You can attend regular events in the Teaching Kitchen and Center for Innovation, or you can reserve them if you want to develop your skills at your own pace.  

Online Learning 

Auto Repair Source - Search this do-it-yourself resource for repairing and maintaining domestic and imported vehicles. 

Driving Tests - Driver's permit practice tests and handbooks from the Arkansas DMV.  

Gale Courses - More than 350 instructor-led online courses covering everything from health and wellness to creative writing, computer programming, business management, GED test preparation, and much more.  

LinkedIn Learning - Learn a variety of skills through informative videos. LinkedIn Learning (previously Lynda.com) 

Learning Express Library - Academic skill-building, standardized test prep, career certification test prep, and job search resources.   

Brainfuse - Live online homework help and tutoring, skill-building, writing assistance, and ACT/SAT practice.  

Job Now - Complete career resource center including job coaching, resume updates, and an Adult Learning Center

Services

Center for Innovation - The Center for Innovation provides a variety of career development opportunities. You can log hours in the Redbird SD flight simulator, EF-Truck NG Simulator System, CAT (Caterpillar) Hydraulic Excavator, and more in our Simulation Lab! There is also a variety of classes focused on career development such as our From Maker to Market program, which helps budding entrepreneurs take ideas and turn them into businesses in 12 weeks, and our CFI Advanced classes that teach skills for the audio and video production tools in the CFI.

Teaching Kitchen - The hospitality industry is struggling now more than ever to find qualified staff. Through the Teaching Kitchen, FPL is able to teach people the basics of a professional kitchen and connect them to job opportunities. Fermenting, baking, and sautéing classes can help workers upskill, earn a higher wage and add value to their employer. A partnership with Brightwater, NWACC, and Fayetteville Public Schools allows local students to receive college credit for culinary arts courses taken at FPL.
