    • Abstract:
Summary: Stella West's artistic talent made her the toast of London, but when her beloved sister dies under mysterious circumstances, she abandons everything, heads for Boston, and tries to pierce the ring of secrecy surrounding her sister's death. When she meets Romulus White, a publisher with innumerable connections, she decides he could be a valuable ally. He decides to help her as a means to induce her to create art for his magazine. Neither one is prepared for the sparks that fly, and Romulus begins to wonder whether helping Stella solve the mystery of her sister's death is worth the risk to his publishing empire.

Booklist Reviews 2016 June #1

For the last three years, Romulus White has been trying to convince Stella West to enter his employ as illustrator for his magazine, Scientific World, with no success. When his latest missive is returned with a forwarding address in Boston, he thinks his luck has finally turned. However, Stella has left London for Boston with one goal in mind: to discover who murdered her sister, Gwendolyn. Romulus is persistent in his pursuit. In a further attempt to convince Stella, he agrees to assist her in the hunt for the killer. Sparks fly between them, but Stella is committed to uncovering the truth, while Romulus is equally committed to increasing sales at his magazine and remaining a bachelor until he turns 40. A secondary story about Romulus' cousin, Evelyn, reuniting with her husband, Clyde, an engineer for America's first subway, in Boston, is equally compelling. Politics, corruption, mystery, history, and, of course, love make up Camden's (Until the Dawn, 2015) well-researched historical inspirational romance. Copyright 2014 Booklist Reviews.
