Booklist Reviews 2016 April #1

While investigating suspicious late-night noises in the boardinghouse, Maisie gets knocked out, so she doesn't see the thief, who takes a valuable mask Professor Tobin is preparing to donate to a museum. Once awake again, she collects evidence and follows clues that lead her straight to the thief—a young Amazonian boy whose family needs the mask back. As always, the Maisie mysteries provide an enjoyable Victorian romp through the logic of deductive reasoning; this fourth series installment excels by also introducing issues surrounding cultural sensitivity and repatriation of artifacts to the community of origin.
