Personal assistive listening receivers with headphones or inductive neck loops by Williams Sound are available for programs in our Event Center, Story Time Room, Art & Movement Room and Walker Community Room. Please contact questions@faylib.org 48 hours before the program to ensure access to a device.
Patrons can also connect Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids using the WaveCast app from Willimas AV. Download the free app from the Apple App Store for iOS devices or Google Play Store for Android devices. Once the app is downloaded, join the Wi-fi network available in the space.
The Calming Kits are for young children and include a weighted stuffed animal, fidget toys, sound-canceling headphones, liquid timer and sensory toys to assist them in regulating emotions and having a successful trip to the library. These kits are for use in the library and are not available for checkout. Please ask for the kits at the Preschool Desk on Level 1.
The Focus Kit includes noise-blocking earmuffs, a weighted lap cover and a visual 60-minute timer. These kits are for use in the library and are not available for checkout. Available at the Welcome Desk on Level 3.
Residents who live within the city limits of Fayetteville, unable to come to the library due to age, health reasons, or mobility challenges may sign up for Lending Hands. As a program participant, you'll be paired with a library volunteer who will check out, deliver and return materials for you.
Place your materials on hold and set the pickup location as “Curbside.” You may also place holds by calling us at 479.856.7000. When you are notified that your hold is ready, park in the library’s loading zone on Mountain Street and call 479.856.7219 to let us know you are here. If it is raining, curbside pickup will be available in the parking garage.
The library provides access to several platforms with electronic content that is customizable to your needs. Libby by OverDrive® is an app that delivers best-selling digital audiobooks and eBooks for checkout, download, and transfer to supported mobile devices with many accessibility features, including dyslexic font.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) service animals are welcome in the building. According to the U.S. Department of Justice a service animal is defined as dogs that are individually trained to perform a task specifically related to a person’s disability. All service animals must follow the library’s Code of Conduct and must be on leash per Fayetteville ordinance 97.038.
If the need for the service animal is not obvious, staff may ask if an animal is a pet or a service animal. Users of service animals are not required to show papers to prove a disability or certification of the service animal's status. Staff may not ask about the owner's disability.
