Through a series of fun writing exercises, students learn to compose original poetry, short fiction, and true stories. In each session, students hear examples of original creative work by a wide range of writers, brainstorm writing ideas as a class, write independently and read original work aloud. In the process, they build confidence in their creative ideas and their public speaking skills. At the end of the six-week workshop session, students submit their favorite original creative writing piece to The Wanderer, an annual publication of the Fayetteville Public Library.
