The Boxed Book Society is a pressure-free book club for teens in grades 7–12. We focus on choosing award-winning, diverse and entertaining titles.
Introducing June's Boxed Book Society theme: Pride Month! On the first of the month, we'll drop a video on our Facebook page and YouTube channel that talks about the month's theme and some great books you can read in that genre. Registrants will receive one of the books in a book box that also contains delightful treats! The book box, and all its contents, is yours to keep. After you register, you can drop by the teen library any time during open hours to pick up your book box in preparation for the meeting. We'll meet in person at the library and simultaneously on Zoom on June 28th at 4 p.m. to chat about books! Please join us in the venue that is most comfortable for you. Also note the meetings that occur during the summer will be held at an earlier time. If you register for the program and receive a book box, meeting attendance is required.
The best part is, there's no pressure to read the book before the meeting! We know that teens already have homework, deadlines, and other pressures every day. So if you read that month's book, great! Come chat about it. If you didn't get to the book before the meeting, come hang out with us anyway! We can talk about a book you loved that you recently read or one you hated that you read five years ago. This program is a pressure-free time to hang out, snack and chat about books!
June's book box will contain a copy of "Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe" by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, along with other treats. This program is open to teens in grades 7–12. Registration opens on June 1st at 9 a.m.
This event will be held simultaneously online via Zoom and at the library in the First Security Bank Board Room.
