Co-editors Keith York and Jenny Jacks Shreve will discuss the late local architect, Ernie Jacks and his memoir covering his relationship with fellow architect Craig Ellwood.
Craig Ellwood: Remembering the Thin Man, written by Fayetteville architect and U of A professor Ernest "Ernie" Jacks, illuminates Jacks' decades-long relationship with internationally-renowned architect Craig Ellwood through era drawings, photography and personal correspondence.
After two bouts of military service and graduating from the University of Arkansas Architecture Department in its inaugural class, Ernie was Ellwood's first draftsman during a period of time when Southern California hosted bold, progressive design in the years following World War II.
Speaking will be Keith York, a historian focused on unveiling the unique stories of twentieth century art and architecture across Southern California and the founder of modernsandiego.com. Co-editor Jenny Jacks Shreve, Ernie's daughter, was born and raised in Fayetteville. She inherited this unpublished manuscript and led the team in sharing this unique story.
Books will be available for sale at this event.
