Learn the secrets of making film masks and props with FX Artist and Prop Master Emmanuel Rodriguez.
Step into the world of cinematic creatures and practical effects with FX Artist and Prop Master Emmanuel Rodriguez. In this workshop, you'll learn the secrets of designing and crafting film masks and props—from spine-chilling horror icons to creatures that stretch the imagination.
About the presenter:
Emmanuel Joel Rodriguez is an FX artist and prop master with a lifelong passion for monsters and movie magic. Raised in a small town in southern New Mexico near El Paso, he was always drawn to the darker side of imagination—scary dinosaurs, dragons, and Halloween costumes that aimed to terrify. He originally set out to be a ventriloquist, but his puppets kept evolving into creatures of horror, leading him toward special effects. After seeing The Wolfman (2010), he realized he could bring monsters to life for film and never looked back. At 15, he worked on his first movie and has since continued building creatures through both practical and digital techniques.
Now based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Emmanuel combines a love of storytelling with hands-on artistry to create memorable masks, props, and characters that blur the line between fear and fascination.
All abilities are welcome. For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7050 or email centerforinnovation@faylib.org 2-3 days before a program.
This workshop is intended for patrons 13 years old or older.
