Each week, teens will explore advanced mathematical concepts.
What do the structure of DNA, electronic music, heat transfer, counting primes, and flesh-eating bacteria have in common? Give up? This semester, Cookies for Proof will cover the Fourier transform, a tool which is used to analyze all these topics (and many others!). Towards the end of the term we are planning a field trip to the Sakon Lab at the Chemistry Department of the University of Arkansas, where we will experience these techniques hands-on!
This program is always free and open to any high school student that is curious about math and excited for the challenge! While there are no prerequisites or experience required, mathematical maturity is preferred. Calculus will be helpful but is not required. Bringing a personal or school laptop or checking out a library laptop is also preferred. You can reach out to cookiesforproof@gmail.com with any questions.
