In this hands-on workshop, discover how writers plant clues, hide meaning in plain sight, and use red herrings to keep readers guessing about where the plot is headed.
No matter the genre, readers love the moment when everything clicks into place. Participants will dissect a mini mystery and learn how subtle details can create satisfying “aha!” moments that keep readers turning the pages.
This workshop is part of our new annual Writers Weekend series for adults interested in writing and publishing their work, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and journalistic writing of all lengths and styles. Join us to sharpen your skills, connect with fellow writers, and take the next step toward publication!
Jane Elzey writes Southern humorous mysteries for readers who like their friendships fierce, their secrets messy, and their murders (kind of) funny. A former journalist turned novelist, Jane Elzey writes with a storyteller’s heart, creating settings and characters so authentic they seem real. Readers describe her as “Evanovich with a Southern drawl” creating stories with equal parts wit, humor, and heart in her whodunits with sass. It's murder, mischief, and entirely entertaining. Jane was born and bred in Florida and now lives in the Arkansas Ozark Mountains with her feline family, where she’s either writing, digging in the garden, or plotting her next killer game.
