About Ed Levi
Ed began his beekeeping career in France where he graduated from a college beekeeping program and kept bees for five years in the 1970s. He continued his beekeeping business in Arkansas and became the apiary specialist and inspector for the Arkansas State Plant Board. He is also an Eastern Apiculture Society Master Beekeeper. During his time at the plant board, he helped build associations, conducted lectures and taught around the country and world. His teaching covers all levels of beekeeping and often involves Integrated pest management (IPM) in bees.
In the Spring of 2019 and with the assistance of NCAT and Slow Food, Ed organized and ran a queen breeding cooperative in NWA with the goal of developing queens with high levels of hygienic behavior. Ed continues to maintain a few colonies in the Fayetteville area. He is excited to be part of setting up an educational apiary and bee display at the Fayetteville Public Library.
