Learn basic self defense & training techniques of the Okinawan karate style.
Matt Faries will give students an overview of basic self defense & training techniques of the Okinawan karate style known as "Goju-ryu". This class will include an opening meditation ritual, stretching & warm up exercises, Kihon (punches, blocks, kicks, stances), self defense with partners, and an introduction to Kata (forms). Ending with a closing meditation.
Attendees must wear appropriate clothing, bring a small sweat towel if possible & wear no jewelry, please!
Most importantly, bring a positive attitude! Let's train hard & have fun together!
Matt Faries is a Goju-ryu blackbelt 4th degree, Army war veteran & a local bouncer since 2012. Matt has a degree in Anthropology and enjoys giving private & small group karate lessons in the park by request.
