For a lost item, the patron will be charged the publisher’s/manufacturer’s retail price of the item plus a non-refundable processing fee (see fee schedule).
If the item has been paid for and is then found, a refund check may be requested by the patron if the following conditions are met:
Item must be in satisfactory condition for borrowing by others, e.g. new or like new condition with no writing/highlighting; containing a pristine book jacket, if applicable; showing little or no wear.
Refund amount will be the amount paid less the processing fee.
Item must be returned within three months of payment date. If the item is returned after three months has passed since the date of payment but the item is still listed in the catalog and in good, circulating condition, an account credit will be applied to the patron’s account.
When an item is returned with missing parts, a processing fee will be charged.
If the missing part is not returned, the cost of the part (if available for separate purchase) or the full price of the whole item plus a processing fee will be charged.
A patron who wishes to replace a lost item, must receive prior approval from the collection manager before purchasing an item. In addition, all the following conditions need to be met.
Have the identical ISBN or producer’s identifying number, e.g. UPC, of the lost item.
Be in the same format and edition as the lost item.
Be in like new condition for borrowing by others; a copy that has been read but remains in excellent condition. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
Not be a former library copy.
Equipment (ex. DVD players, laptops, etc.) are ineligible for replacement.
The library reserves the right to refuse any replacement item.
The library may turn over unpaid charges for lost materials to a collection agency.
