Laura Ramirez is a local Fayetteville artist and designer, originally from the Dominican Republic. Her studio Pattern Etch allows her to create and explore the world around her. The medium usually varies from charcoal to acrylic to watercolors, with the sole purpose of giving each pattern the exploration it deserves. The paintings come from an ongoing study of the built environment and nature. As a trained architect her work is, for the most part, structured and geometrical. She considers her work to be based on “place”, not a physical space, but the place created by experiences, experimentation and studies of her surroundings whether that is the sand at the beach, the mountains, details on a building or the woods.
