Join us for a creative writing workshop focused on the art of worldbuilding in Science Fiction!
Dive into the craft of worldbuilding in this creative writing workshop dedicated to the art of constructing unique and immersive worlds within the Sci-Fi genre! Questions we will consider include: How do you manage time in a short story? How do you give your reader a sense of history, place, social circumstances, ecosystems? How do you show it rather than tell it? The greatest rule of any world is change, so how might the world of your story be changing, in ways either big or small? What impact does this change have on the story, on the characters?
This will be a generative workshop, so you’re welcome to come with a world and story already in mind (or on paper), but we will primarily be looking at outside examples and trying things out during the workshop – in the end those who wish can share their work. All you need to bring is yourself!
All abilities are welcome. For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7250 or email questions@faylib.org 2-3 weekdays before a program.
