Join author and cartoonist Zeke Peña to learn the fundamentals of comics and illustration.
Join storyteller and cartoonist Zeke Peña as he teaches participants the fundamentals of comics and illustration! Students will receive hands-on instruction from Zeke, illustrator of the award-winning titles My Papi Has a Motorcycle and Photographic: The Life of Graciela Iturbide. Zeke provided the illustrations and cover artwork for Jason Reynolds' Spider-Man novel, Miles Morales: Suspended, and is currently promoting his new juvenile picture book, Sundust.
This workshop is free, open to participants in grades 5–12 and is adaptive for all skill levels from beginner to advanced, though a basic understanding of drawing is helpful. Supplies will be provided and participants will get to take home their supplies, but seating is limited. Registration opens September 22.
True Lit is in collaboration with the Fayetteville Public Library, Fayetteville Public Schools, Fayetteville Public Education Foundation, and University of Arkansas Program in Creative Writing and Translation.
