Fayetteville Public Library
Walker Community Room (3rd Floor)On the last Sunday of each month, staff genealogists and guest speakers share stories about people and places in the Ozarks.
Writer and historian J.B. Hogan will discuss the life and works of his mother, Fayetteville poet and musician Phydella Hogan.
About the speaker
J.B. Hogan is an author, local historian, and the youngest son of Phydella Gilbert Hogan – musician and poet. J.B. grew up in Fayetteville under his mother’s tutelage and considers himself an extension of her drive for education (she only went through eighth grade) and a continuation of her work as a writer. In 1961, they moved to Southern California where he finished high school and she became a published poet. J. B. later received a Ph.D. from Arizona State in 1979. Phydella Hogan received a B.A. with honors from the University of Arkansas in 1992 when she was 74 years old.
