Join us for a brief introduction to Geocaching and Letterboxing. Learn more about these adventurous hobbies and what supplies and skills you might need to participate!

Join the ranks of treasure hunters around the world! This program will offer a brief overview of each hobby, supplies you may need to get started, rules for seeking hidden caches, and other tips.

Geocaching – Founded in 2000, geocachers use the Geocaching® app and other GPS-enabled devices to hide and seek cleverly hidden containers called geocaches. Geocaches range in size from a miniscule tube to a large box and vary wildly in difficulty to find; some even have multiple steps or riddles included. The community is composed of millions of players around the world, with over 3 million active geocaches hidden across 190+ countries.

Letterboxing - Less popular than it's GPS-enabled sibling, Letterboxing returns to an x-marks-the-spot style of seeking. Letterboxers carve their own stamps and hide them in small, weatherproof boxes in publicly-accessible places; step-by-step clues are posted online or passed by word-of-mouth for other Letterboxers to follow. When you find a box, you can mark their log book with your own stamp and mark your log book with the stamp they've included in their box for a neat, easy-to-carry collectible.
