Explore ways to use the fruits, vegetables, and herbs you grow or buy in this workshop led by the Washington County Master Gardeners.

Led by Master Gardeners, this workshop invites community members to discover innovative, practical ways to use the fruits, vegetables, and herbs growing in their own gardens or obtained at local farmers markets. Expect take‑home ideas tailored to Arkansas’s growing conditions!

You’ll explore:

  • Seasonal harvesting tips — How to identify peak ripeness and choose the best time to pick.
  • Creative kitchen uses — Fresh ways to incorporate herbs, fruits, and vegetables into everyday meals.
  • Preservation techniques — Herb drying, preservation strategies, and more.
  • Flavor‑building with herbs — Pairing herbs with produce to elevate dishes.
  • Waste‑reducing ideas — Using stems, peels, and surplus harvest creatively.

About the presenter

Teresa Sullivan is a retired Family Nurse Practitioner whose career has been defined by a deep commitment to preventive care, patient education, and community wellness. After decades of clinical practice, she continues to expand her expertise in ways that enrich both her own life and the lives of those around her.

Last year, Teresa completed the Master Gardener program, blending her love of gardening with her passion for health. Earlier this year, she added a 40‑hour “Food is Medicine” certification designed specifically for healthcare practitioners—training that strengthened her long‑held belief in the old saying, “you are what you eat.” Teresa brings a thoughtful, evidence‑based perspective to the connection between nutrition, lifestyle, and long‑term health.

Today, she shares her knowledge with the community, helping others understand how growing food, preparing food, and choosing food can be powerful tools for personal well‑being. Teresa’s work reflects her core philosophy: that health is cultivated—one choice, one meal, and one garden at a time.
