The University of Arkansas Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing and Translation is proud to present the 2021-22 Walton Visiting Writer in Translation.

Join author and translator Kate Briggs as she reads from her work and answers audience questions. 

Kate Briggs is a writer, educator and French-to-English translator. She is currently working on "The Long Form", a book about co-living, the novel and enrhythment, is forthcoming with Fitzcarraldo Editions; as well as a translation of Hélène Bessette's first novel, "Lili pleure". Previous translations include two volumes of Roland Barthes's lecture notes: "How to Live Together" and "The Preparation of the Novel", both published by Columbia University Press. She is the author of "This Little Art" (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2017), a long essay on the practice of translation, and the 2021 recipient of a Windham-Campbell prize for nonfiction. She lives and works in Rotterdam, NL, where she runs a collective reading, writing and publishing initiative called Short Pieces That Move! 

This event is made possible by University of Arkansas MFA Program in Creative Writing and Translation, the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, the English department, the Walton Family Foundation, Fayetteville Public Library and the James E. and Ellen Wadley Roper Professorship in Creative Writing.
