Join us for an evening with Newbery award winning author Meg Medina! All are invited to attend a conversation between Meg Medina and news director and anchor of Univision Arkansas, Andrea Delgado.

Newbery award-winning author Meg Medina is visiting Fayetteville Public Library! 

Program Schedule:

  • 5-6 p.m.: Friendship bracelets in the Starr Foundation Children's Craft Room
    • Stop by the craft room to make a friendship bracelet, or pick up a craft bag at the Preschool Help Desk that you can take home and use later! This activity was inspired by Meg Medina's book, Evelyn Del Rey is Moving Away.

  • 5:30 p.m.: Event Center doors open 
    • We ask all guests to arrive at least fifteen minutes before the event begins to locate seats for their group.

  • 5:30 p.m.: Pick up Cuban-inspired boxed dinners provided by 641.DELI as supplies last
    • The first 250 people to arrive are invited to pick up a boxed dinner at our 641.DELI before the author discussion. Meal can be eaten in the Event Center

  • 6:30-7:30 p.m.: Conversation with Meg Medina and news director and anchor of Univision Arkansas, Andrea Delgado
    • The program includes a Q&A session with the audience. 

  • 7:30 p.m.: Book sale and signing 

This event is free to attend, but for planning purposes we ask that you register. We hope to see you there!


Meg Medina writes picture books, middle grade novels and teen fiction. Her work features strong Latinx characters, and it examines the places where culture, family and growing-up intersect. It has earned several distinctions, including the 2019 Newbery Medal for Merci Suárez Changes Gears (Candlewick 2018). Her 2016 YA novel, Burn Baby Burn, was longlisted for the National Book Award and shortlisted for the Kirkus Prize. For additional information about Meg Medina, visit https://megmedina.com/.

La programación:

  • 5-6 p.m.: Pulseras de amistad en la Sala de Manualidades Infantiles de la Fundación Starr (Starr Foundation Children's Craft Room)
    • ¡Pase por la sala de manualidades para hacer una pulsera de amistad, o recoja una bolsa de manualidades en el escritoria de ayuda preescolar que puede llevar a casa y usar más tarde! Esta actividad se inspiró en el libro de Meg Medina, Evelyn Del Rey Se Está Mudando.

  • 5:30 p.m.: Se abren las puertas del Centro de Eventos
