Author Brian Thompson will discuss his book and answer questions about the battle to keep industrial farming from polluting the Buffalo River watershed.
In 2012 the pristine waters of the beloved Buffalo National River were threatened by an industrial hog farming operation which was quietly permitted and constructed nearby. It was nearly complete before the general public even knew it existed. Waste from the farm caused toxic algae to pollute the state's favorite recreational spot.
A small group of Arkansans stood toe to toe with powerful special interests, state and federal agencies, the state legislature, and two of the largest corporations in the world, all to protect the Buffalo National River for future generations.
Brian Thompson will discuss the book and take questions from the audience. Books will be available for sale and signing.
