CFI: Koenig Family Fabrication & Robotics Lab

A networking basics class designed for those looking to enter into the audio, video and lighting professions, as well as current technicians who are setting up or working with devices on a network.

This class will help build an understanding of networking technologies to help foster communications between traditional AV and IT departments and will cover Layers 1-7 of the OSI networking model.

With the advent of inexpensive gigabit networks, traditional audio and video companies have been migrating away from proprietary transmission technologies to a network standards based method for sending audio, video, and lighting data across a traditional computer network. This is allowing a lower cost of entry to new AVL technologies in buildings with an existing network, but are also providing challenges and learning opportunities for AVL techs as their worlds are colliding with IT. These classes will help bridge the digital divide between AV and IT departments by creating a common knowledge framework for networking from the usage standpoint of an AVL technician.

This program is designed for participants 15 and older.
