Nearing the 10-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy, Scarlett Lewis discusses the Choose Love Movement and her newest children's book, "Choosing Love: A Pathway to Flourishing".

Please join us for a discussion with author and founder of the Choose Love Movement, Scarlett Lewis. She will be joined by illustrator Jane Weir Davidian to speak about her new book "Choosing Love: A Pathway to Flourishing". The book serves as a fundraiser for the Choose Love Movement, founded in honor of her son, Jesse Lewis, who was murdered during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012. As we near the 10-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook attack, Scarlett continues to spread the "Nurturing Healing Love" message that Jesse wrote on their kitchen chalkboard before his murder. She will share how writing and art can promote healing and love.

Books will be available for sale and signing following the event.

Scarlett Lewis founded the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement in honor of her son, Jesse, who was murdered during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012. After his death, Scarlett decided to be part of the solution to the issues we see in our society – that also caused the tragedy—and turned it into an opportunity to build a culture of love, resilience, forgiveness and connection in our communities.

She created the Choose Love for Schools program, which is a no cost comprehensive program that teaches children how to thoughtfully respond with love by using courage, gratitude, forgiveness and compassion-in-action. Reaching over 3 million children, it demonstrates ways for children to handle adversity, have courageous conversations and to respond with love. Hundreds of schools in Arkansas have incorporated the Choose Love Movement's social emotional competence program in the past decade. Choose Love extends beyond the classroom and offers programs for the home, communities, athletics and the workplace. For more information, visit chooselovemovement.org.

Scarlett Lewis was named a “Forbes 50 over 50 Impact Honoree” for her impactful community work, and she continues to share her story and mission across the U.S. and internationally.

Scarlett’s books include
+ "Nurturing Healing Love: A Mother’s Journey of Hope & Forgiveness"
+ "From Sandy Hook to the World: How the Choose Love Movement Transforms Lives"
+ "Rose’s Foal"
+ "Choosing Love: A Pathway to Flourishing"

Jane Weir Davidian has been in Northwest Arkansas for 30 years and operates the Jane’s Place Fine Art gallery and art school. Her gallery features paintings, painted furniture, floor cloths and more. Jane’s work is also featured with her illustrations in the children’s book, "Choosing Love: A Pathway to Flourishing" by Scarlett Lewis.
