Join us as we get started with screen printing with stencils.

In this class, participants will learn how to utilize the laser cutter to cut paper stencils for screen printing and the basics of proper screen printing techniques to create a custom one-color t-shirt.

Acadia Kandora is a printmaker, rock collector and nature enthusiast. She holds an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Arkansas and a BFA with concentrations in Graphic Design and Sculpture from Shepherd University. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally in cities such as Baltimore, Indianapolis, Bentonville, and Korpo, Finland. Her work revolves around her relationship to nature, the natural, landscape, and the intersection between the imaginary and the concrete.

During the residency, Acadia will work on a new body of work that focuses on how the glitch relates to memory by removing layers of ink from existing prints using the laser engraver. This removal is conceptually embraced within her work as a rewriting of narrative. In essence, taking back autonomy (from previous situations that are addressed in current work) by engraving new materials or images into the existing printed memory. As someone who has focused on additive processes for most of her creative practice, it will be a fun challenge to learn how to start subtracting.
