Past President of the Ozark Society Dr. David Peterson examines how a possible shift in climate might change the Buffalo National River environment.
Dr. David Peterson will discuss how climate change might alter elements of the Buffalo River habitat, such as its water and air temperature, water flow, the position of gravel bars, and behavior of animals like freshwater mussels and the alligator snapping turtle.
Dr. Peterson grew up in southern Wisconsin, spending a lot of time outdoors. After completing a PhD in math at Michigan State in 1971, he taught at Boise State for a year and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville for 4 years before settling down at UCA for 34 years in the math department. David joined the Ozark Society in 1978, and has served in several capacities over the years, currently as Past President.
