The short films "Dirt" and "Villines Farm: Eight Generations of Farming" will be shown followed by a panel discussion about the importance of soil conservation.
The Arkansas PBS film Dirt unveils the living, breathing ecosystem beneath our feet and its place in sustainable farming practices. The film expounds on how Arkansas farmers, ranchers, and others are conserving their soil, water, air, and other natural resources, improving their operations, and helping the environment with sustainability methods from the US Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
Major funding for Dirt is provided by the Pulaski County Conservation District and the United States Department of Agriculture's NRCS in Arkansas.
Ozark Natural Foods Cooperative presents this film about the Villines family of Boxley Valley, who have always made sustainable farming a priority. The present-day members who are highlighted in the film are all involved in the practice of regenerative agriculture, which protects the health of the soil and produces the high-quality fruits and vegetables that people in Northwest Arkansas enjoy.
