About the Presenter:

Jason Jones is an American visual artist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. Immediately out of college Jason worked part-time as a muralist and artist and did concrete work in between. In 2002, he was able to dedicate 100% of his time to art.

In 2011, fascinated with the sustainability of art and how it might be repurposed, Jason grabbed old, vintage artworks and began adding what would become his signature style – whimsical robots, tentacled beasts, and a cast of characters familiar to the inner child in all of us.  Whether a vintage print or an original oil painting, Jones alters each one by hand, painting directly on the piece, matching the color palette and style while adding his own clever twist to the discarded artwork, effortlessly blending these two seemingly irreconcilable visual idioms.

Exploring both intimate studio works and large-scale outdoor public art - including 3-dimensional iterations of some of his most beloved characters - Jones’ practice expresses a dialogue between old and new, humor and social concerns, bringing a whimsical tone with each work.

Along with his numerous public art interventions, he has showcased his work in solo and group exhibitions.
Jason lives and works in Fayetteville, AR.

Maker Faire NWA Oct 21, 2023

A Maker Faire is a community event celebrating all makers, crafters, artists, scientists, inventors, innovators, creatives, and more. From large art installations and interactive experiences to local tinkerers and craftsmen. Maker Faire is designed to bring together beginners, experts, and the curious to share what they have made and to learn more about what the community has to offer.

Fayetteville Public Library knows that the Northwest Arkansas region is the perfect place to offer a Maker Faire; we are a community brimming with artists, makers, entrepreneurs, tech startups, nonprofits, and more who all have their own unique makers’ journey to share with us. And that is what a Maker Faire is all about.

Last year we had over 40 Vendors and Makers participate and over 1300 visitors in attendance.
