Please join 2nd Sunday Local Author Velda Brotherton on Sunday, September 12 from 2:00pm-4:00pm in the Walker Community Room.

Velda Brotherton is native Arkansan who stayed away as long as she could before returning to plant herself firmly in her native soil. Such a move brought about her writing career which began with newspapers and moved on to fiction, both short stories and novels. Not shy about her age, she continues to turn out two or three novels a year at the age of 81. Why does she write when she could retire? What keeps her at her computer when she could sit on the porch in a rocker? “It’s the voices,” she says. “They won’t leave me alone. They insist on one more story. And I can’t resist the pull of that fantasy world that exists inside the realm of reality.”

Velda's novel, Remembrance, inspired by a true story, is about a family torn apart by tragedy and their struggle to fit themselves back together. Could you take to your heart the boy who killed your son? That’s the difficult question asked and answered in this story of redemption and forgiveness.

Her newest work of fiction is Tyra's Gambler, a Western historical romance based on the legend of the Seven Spanish Angels.

Many of her titles will be available for sale and signing.
