Join us for a monthly meeting of The Boxed Book Society! On the first of the month, we'll drop a video on our Facebook and YouTube pages that introduces the month's theme and some great books you can read on theme. Registrants will receive one of the books in a book box that also contains delightful treats! The book box, and all its contents, is yours to keep. After you register, you can drop by the library any time during open hours to pick up your book box in preparation for our virtual chat session. We'll meet via Zoom on the last Monday of the month at 5pm to snack and chat about books!
The best part is, there's no pressure to read the book before the Zoom session! We know that teens already have homework, deadlines, and other pressures every day. So, if you read that month's book before the virtual chat session, great! Come chat about it. If you didn't get to the book before the meeting, come hang out with us anyway! We can talk about a book you loved that you read this summer or one you hated that you read five years ago. This program is a pressure-free time to hang out, snack and chat about books!
The Boxed Book Society includes anyone who has signed up at one time or another to participate in FPL's Boxed Book Society program. This program is open to teens in grades 7th–12th. Registration opens on the 1st of the month for that month's book box and virtual chat session.
January's book box theme is Fantasy. January's book box will contain a copy of Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, along with other treats. Registration opens on January 1st at 9am.
