Human Library

Do you have a story that could challenge assumptions, spark conversation, or open hearts? We’re looking for volunteers to be “published” as human books during FPL’s Human Library in January 2026. By sharing your story, you’ll help break down stereotypes and build understanding in our community

What's the Human Library?

The Human Library is a collection of real people and their personal stories. Instead of checking out paperbacks, "readers" will engage in open, earnest conversations that may be taboo, marginalized or stigmatized. The goal is to challenge prejudice through conversation and to build greater understanding and connection without judgement. We invite you to listen deeply and “un-judge” others.

Get "published" in our Human Library!

As a human book, you’ll sit down with curious readers and share your personal story. By being open, honest and willing to talk, you will help break down barriers and create understanding.

To participate as a book, you’ll need to:

+ Submit a book title, a book description (3–5 sentences), and 3–5 chapter titles (talking points).
+ Attend a training session in early January.
+ Allow your photo and story title to be used in event promotions.

Applications are open through November 14. Apply to be a book →
