Fayetteville Public Library is developing a variety of workforce training programs to provide opportunities for lower-income residents to gain skills needed to achieve higher-wage occupations in Fayetteville and across the region. We will provide training in construction, information technology and culinary arts sectors, with a focus on serving residents who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 or face different barriers to employment. This programming is being developed in partnership with the City of Fayetteville's Department of Economic Vitality utilizing appropriated ARPA funding.
The Skilled Trades Certification programs utilize computer training with virtual reality simulations and can provide instruction in both English and Spanish. Numerous certification options will be offered, including NATE Ready-to-Work, NATE CHP-5, EPA 608, and OSHA 10. Additional training and CEUs will also be available in the fields of HVAC; plumbing; electrical; solar energy; and appliance, residential, and facilities maintenance.
The IT (Information Technology) training program is designed for all users, taking participants from entry level learners to certified IT professionals. The courses range from in-person offerings in our computer training lab to online self-paced certificate courses through Coursera.
To provide realistic job training and fundamental skills practice, the Heavy Equipment Operating programs will utilize the Center for Innovation’s numerous simulators, including a forklift with immersive virtual reality simulations & instruction and CAT machines that offer simulated learning certificates and will be able to simulate a hydraulic excavator, dozer, backhoe, loader, and grader.
