Stomp your way to the library for a fun-filled summer of reading, family-friendly fun, prizes, and so much more. Log your reading in June and July to be eligible for prizes! Whatever age you are, we encourage you to celebrate the summer with us.
Registration summer reading opens May 1!
Use the ReadSquared app or website to track your reading and earn points all summer long! All readers who log their reading in ReadSquared are eligible to enter grand prize raffle drawings held during the week of August 3. You can even choose which raffle to enter with your earned points! Registration opens May 1 and start logging on June 1!
Kids and teens track minutes read instead of books read! The goal is to read 1,000 minutes (about 20 minutes a day for 7 weeks). Milestone incentives are awarded at registration, 250, 500, and 1,000 points. But you don’t have to stop there! Super readers earn extra raffle entries for every 100 minutes beyond that.
+ Log each book completed
+ Get entered into a weekly prize drawing for each book you read
+ Every 5 books = 1 entry into the Grand Prize Drawing

READsquared is the program that helps you track your reading. Instead of paper logs, you'll track your minutes online or through the app. You earn points for all of the reading you complete. With your points, you can enter the Grand Prize Raffles.
We will offer fun programs for all ages throughout the summer! From story times and musical guests to magicians and craft projects, we have something for all kids and teens! The best way to know what we have going on is to check out our calendar. You can sort our events by age group, too! Keep in mind that many events have registrations. For families looking for something to do, Wild for Wednesday is each Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Event Center. Super Saturdays continue each Saturday of the summer at 10 a.m. - a fun, family friendly performance! We have Friday morning programs for younger kids and a movie each Friday afternoon. Our weekly story times include Baby Bookworms, Toddler Time and Preschool Story Time. No registration needed! Adult summer reading programs include Yoga @ FPL, Mindfulness Meditation, Mountain Street Stage concerts, computer classes, librarian lead book clubs, author events, a variety of events on the SRC theme and more!
For listeners, kids, and teens, incentives will be given away at the registration, 250, 500, and 1,000 point levels. For Listeners, get ready for some cool treasure box prizes! If you read for 1,000 minutes, you will earn a treasure and a free book. For kids and teens, you will earn coupons to local Fayetteville businesses – like Sissy’s SnoCones and Lokomotion. Every reader who finishes the program wins another coupon and a free book. Grand Prize Raffle drawings will take place the week of August 3. If you have logged reading minutes in ReadSquared, you are eligible for our Grand Prize Raffle of your choice!
For listeners, get ready for fun treasure box choices! For kids and teens, area businesses like Raising Cane's, Lokomotion, Penguin Eds, and Ricks Bakery have generously donated coupon prizes. Treasure box or another choice is always an option for allergies or dietary preferences. Upon completion, every reader gets to pick a free book! Each 100 points gives you a "ticket" to enter a Grand Prize Raffle!
Listener prizes include an art easel, Strider bike, and Kindess and Joy gift card. Kids' prizes include American Girl Doll, Board Game Bundles, Dad Suggests Bundle & Gift Card, and Amazon Fire Tablet. Teen prizes include a Pearl's Book Bundle, Record Player & Block Street Records Gift Card, Countertop PacMan, and Nintendo Switch Lite.
Listeners, kids and teens are not required to read a certain amount of books – instead, we reward minutes spent reading. The goal is for each reader to get to 1,000 points. That equals 20 minutes a day of reading for 7 weeks. And you can earn more than 1,000 points! We want each reader to have an attainable goal, but we encourage super readers to keep on reading. For every 100 minutes you track, you will earn additional entries into grand prize drawings. For participating adults, every book read qualifies you for a chance to win a weekly prize, and every five books is an entry into the grand prize drawing.
We have a program for listeners, which is generally kids 0-5. Any book that is read to them counts as minutes that can be logged!
Yes! In the kids' program, you can log the minutes your child reads independently as well as ones that you read to them. You can also log minutes for multiple children simultaneously.
Yes! Each child who meets their reading goal and completes the program (1,000 points) will get to pick out a book they can keep.
We prefer you use the READsquared app to log summer reading. You can even log the same reading for multiple kids at once! If logging online is a barrier, you can track the minutes read using paper and pen. In order to be eligible for prizes, just email kidsquestions@faylib.org by July 31 at 5 p.m. and we can “bulk log” for your child or children.
