Meeting: The Willard and Pat Walker Community Room

Local experts will answer questions and offer solutions to people concerned about climate change.

Many of us are worried sick about the impending climate disasters around the world, many of which have already started!

Our politicians aren’t moving fast enough and we are all feeling the impacts. We hope to offer hopeful solutions and tips on being resilient and how to make our area more likely to survive the oncoming stresses.  After a brief summary, the NWA Green Team of experts will give you time to ask questions about the following topics in small interest circles: 1) the climate benefit of a plant-based diet; 2) resilience skills and hope; 3) how to be civically engaged and effective to influence climate solutions; 4) the climate impact of the November election; 5) Citizens’ Climate Lobby; and 6) nature-based local solutions. The 90 minute program closes with each participant’s pledge to reduce his/her carbon footprint and be more involved in reducing the crisis.

Presenters include:

  • Michele Halsell, PhD. Business Professor, U of A, plant-based diet expert
  • Joanna Person-Michener, PhD, MEd, Psychotherapist, Citizens’ Climate Lobby
  • Dina Nash, MSW, MS, retired psychotherapist, climate activist
  • Rev. Sterling Smith, retired Methodist Minister, Citizens’ Climate Lobby leader
  • Eric Fuselier, Consultant with Olsson Engineering, nature-based solutions
  • Orlo Stitt, MS,retired sustainable solar home builder, Political Action

All abilities are welcome. For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7250 or email questions@faylib.org 2-3 weekdays before a program.
