Aaron Smith will be sharing songs from his acclaimed album The Legend of Sam Davis alongside Kelly and Donna Mulhollan of Still on the Hill and a full band.

The Legend of Sam Davis explores stories from Newton County Arkansas, including a heroic midwife, the mysterious appearance of “The Snow Child” a Cherokee family’s harrowing escape from the Trail of Tears and culminating in the story of Sam Davis, the raving preacher for whom Sam’s Throne was named. According to World Music Central, "The Legend of Sam Davis and other Stories of Newton County, Arkansas, the stunning new album + book by Aaron Smith and the Coal Biters, transcends the boundaries of a mere collection, encompassing songs that pulsate with veracity, stories that evoke passion, breathtaking artwork, mesmerizing maps, and cherished family photos. Multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Aaron Smith infuses his revelatory music with a captivating mix of beautifully crafted American roots music, ranging from country rock to progressive bluegrass, folk, jazz, and Americana.”

Aaron Smith’s songs explore the mystery of human experience, searching for the meaning of love, family, heritage, kindness, doubt, and grace. Influenced as much by Flannery O’Connor as John Prine and John Hartford, his songs range from witty jazz to pensive, emotive ballads, to southern roots grooves. Smith has received critical acclaim as a winner of the New Folk competition  at Kerrville Folk Festival and the BMG Songwriter Showcase at the Power of Music Festival.
