Join instructor Arlynda to learn about hula dancing!
Each participant not only learns the captivating rhythms and movements of Pacific Island dance but also discovers the beauty of self-expression, strength, and unity.
Arlynda Jonas is a practitioner of various Pacific Island dances. She began dancing at the age of 8 years old and in 2011 she attended an arts school in Kansas City where I learned Pacific Island Dances. Arlynda has lived in Northwest Arkansas since 2014, and after moving to NWA she soon began leading a hula ministry at a local church and offering private lessons to students. After connecting with local pacific island organizations, she was able to expand her teaching practice to include more students and offer more performance opportunities. Arlynda currently leads a group called “Ocean Wave” in Springdale, Arkansas at the Jones Center. The group has performed in various events across NWA. Ocean Wave is a dance initiative that focuses on exploration and education of various pacific island dances. Their mission is to educate participants and audiences on Pacific Island cultural traditions, and to empower youth to build confidence through this arts specific approach.
