Explore the art of natural dyeing in this hands-on, creative workshop!

Participants will learn a variety of tie-dye techniques using eco-friendly, plant-based materials to create one-of-a-kind wearable pieces. Through guided instruction from U of A School of Art students, participants will experiment with different tying methods to produce unique patterns, as well as explore dyeing techniques such as bundle dye, dip dye, and ice dye. Using natural dyes derived from plants and organic materials, this activity encourages creativity while introducing sustainable art practices.

Each participant will design and dye a bandana or T-shirt—perfect, personalized items for summer. No prior experience is needed, and materials will be provided while they last. Participants can bring something from home, too, whether that be an old t-shirt, tote bag, or other fabric item they would like to repurpose and customize during the session. Participants will leave with their finished creations and new skills they can continue exploring at home. No registration required.

For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7170 or email kidsquestions@faylib.org 2-3 weekdays before a program. Plan your visit by viewing our building map and details on accessibility services.
