Walker Community Room (3rd Floor)Author Angela M. Johnson guides new writers toward self-publication, exploring both the creative and technical aspects involved in the process.
Bringing knowledge, skills, and experience gained over four years of self-publishing, Angela M. Johnson will help attendees identify the type of writer they are, discuss the resources necessary to write a book, stress the importance of a first draft, establish their chosen genre/sub-genre, know when they have a finished manuscript, and think about their why for writing. The session will also guide new writers through the technical aspects of handling a finished manuscript. This workshop will be interactive and feature time for questions and feedback.

About the presenter
Angela M. Johnson is an independently published, BIPOC author of adult fantasy and romance novels living in Northwest Arkansas (NWA) with her family. She is a retired Army Veteran, mother, artist, Cosplayer, crafter, and Heavy Athlete competing in Scottish Highland Games. When she isn’t writing full-time, she is chasing dopamine; collecting skills and hobbies like they are Pokémon cards. Anything from 3D printing, Laser Engraving, CNC Carving, and most other types of design and fabrication. She published her first fantasy novel in 2022 and has ventured into the romance genre; releasing four novels in 2023, one in 2025, and with more to come in the future.
This workshop is part of our Publishing Pathways series for adults interested in writing and publishing their work, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and journalistic writing of all lengths and styles. Join us to sharpen your skills, connect with fellow writers, and take the next step toward publication!
