Schizophrenia is the most stigmatized and misunderstood mental illness.

In this talk, Craig Jones, LCSW, and Elizabeth Demoret, LCSW, of the Odyssey Clinic at the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute, will discuss the history of schizophrenia, our current understanding about the causes and manifestations of the illness, and various treatment approaches that can radically improve the quality of life and outcomes for individuals with schizophrenia and their families.

Meet your presenters

Craig Jones, LCSW, is the Program Manager for the Odyssey Clinic in Little Rock. Prior to this role, he worked as an outpatient therapist in community mental health and at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, often serving individuals with serious mental illness, personality disorders, trauma, and recovery from perpetration and victimization of interpersonal violence. He also has extensive history in working within crisis evaluation and intervention. He holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and has been a Licensed Certified Social Worker since 2009. He has also been an adjunct professor at multiple universities, teaching various courses in philosophy and psychology of religion, since 2008.  

Elizabeth Demoret, LCSW, is the Program Manager for the Odyssey Clinic in Northwest Arkansas. Prior to this role, she has several years of experience working in inpatient mental health settings. She has also worked in outpatient settings, serving individuals with serious and persistent mental health conditions. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from University of Arkansas at Little Rock and has been a Licensed Certified Social Worker since 2018.
