Sidney Thompson, professor at TCU, will discuss his books "Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves" and "Hell on the Border".

Sidney Thompson is the author of "Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves: The Bass Reeves Trilogy, Book One" (2020) and "Hell on the Border: The Bass Reeves Trilogy, Book Two", historical novels that narrate the real-life story of a slave who fought his master, a prominent politician and officer in the 11th Texas Cavalry Regiment, for his freedom and later became the greatest lawman of the American Old West. "Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves" was selected as an Arkansas Gem in 2020 by the Arkansas Center for the Book and was a Finalist in 2021 for the Oklahoma Book Award in Fiction and the Spur Award for Historical Novel. Thompson holds a Ph.D. in American literature/African American narratives from the University of North Texas and an M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Arkansas. He teaches creative writing and African American literature at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and is currently at work on the third novel of the trilogy.
