Keri Blakinger, Los Angeles Times reporter and author of 2022's Corrections in Ink will join us to discuss her groundbreaking debut.

The University of Arkansas and Fayetteville Public Library are proud to welcome journalist Keri Blakinger to discuss her life and work.  Blakinger's 2022 debut, Corrections in Ink, is an unforgettable memoir showcasing her path from the ice rink, to addiction and prison, to the newsroom.  This journey has culminated with her determined commitment to expose a flawed prison system through intensity, brutal honesty, and flashes of humor to show how a brutal system impacts society as a whole.  Blakinger's story shows the power of second chances in a system that often prevents healing and building anew.  This event is sponsored by: The University of Arkansas Humanities Center; The University of Arkansas Department of English; Fayetteville Public Library; and the University of Arkansas Gender Studies Program.

Please note that this event will be providing both ASL interpretation and CART captioning services.

About the Author:

Keri Blakinger is a journalist and the author of Corrections in Ink, a memoir tracing her path from figure skating to heroin addiction to prison and, finally, to life as an investigative reporter covering mass incarceration.
