Mark your calendars, local authors Gil Miller and JC Crumpton will discuss the popularity of Science Fiction.

Gil had a normal upbringing, which means his parents aren't to blame for him going into crime (fiction). Instead, he blames a steady diet of movies, shows, and books, from Miami Vice and Scarface in the '80s to Breaking Bad and Justified in the '00s. To cap it all off, he discovered authors such as Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Don Winslow, and the late, great Elmore Leonard. He makes his home outside Fayetteville, where he is at work on the next of his Rural Empires novels. Gil is an Army veteran and a proud member of Bumbershoots Writers Society, and Sleuth's Ink Writers Group.

JC was born in Southern California and grew up in San Diego, Chicago, Iceland, Germany, and Arkansas. He lives with his wife, his cat, and her dog. Growing up as a military brat in several different places gives JC a broad palette of experiences to utilize in his writing. He has held a myriad of jobs, including fry cook, telemarketer, soccer coach, substitute teacher, and sales analyst, making him a confused if well-rounded person. He received his undergraduate degree in English with a Creative Writing emphasis from the University of Arkansas and worked seven years for a daily newspaper, compiling a list of over 1,000 bylines. He is a proud member of Authors’ Anonymous 2.0 writing group, Ozark Creative Writers, and the Bumbershoots Writers Society.
