Take a cutting edge look at an E. Fay Jones classic using laser scanning to preserve architectural heritage.
In 2024, the E. Fay Jones Conservancy was awarded a grant from the Division of Arkansas Heritage to produce a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scan of the Faubus House in Huntsville, Arkansas, which was designed in 1965 by renowned architect Fay Jones. Jones authored many buildings throughout Arkansas, including Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, which is regarded as one of the top 10 buildings of the 20th century by the American Institute of Architects, and the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista.
Join the Conservancy’s scanning team for a behind-the-scenes look at how the scan was performed and hosted online, as well as a brief discussion of laser scanning and its many applications to historical preservation as a whole.
