This workshop led by Jeremy Billingsley of Sley House Publishing will define horror and the southern gothic and reflect on how these two genres work together.

We will discuss the process of writing and getting beta readers, the importance of research and keeping it in the background, and querying agents.

This workshop is part of our new annual Writers Weekend series for adults interested in writing and publishing their work, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and journalistic writing of all lengths and styles. Join us to sharpen your skills, connect with fellow writers, and take the next step toward publication!

About the presenter

Jeremy Billingsley is a published author and owner/editor-in-chief of Sley House Publishing. His novels Ristenoff and Under the Churchyard in the Chamber of Bone dive deeply into horror and the southern gothic, as do Jeremy's short stories, published in various markets over the years. As a professor, Jeremy has taught literature courses on both subjects as well as creative writing workshops.
