With Visiting Artist Allison Blevins
In this class, participants will learn various submission management systems and discuss the submission process. Attendees will leave with an inside look into how editors and publishers evaluate and select work. They will also learn the pros and cons of self-publishing.
Allison Blevins is a poet and publisher who writes confessional free verse poetry and finds inspiration in both traditional and pop culture. She writes to confess her sins and connect with a world she feels largely disconnected from as a neurodiverse person and a person with a physical disability. Her work centers difference and queerness in a world that seeks to other, to push her to the margins. She uses hybrid techniques to open the boundaries of free verse. Her work lives in a space between poetry, flash nonfiction, and abstract art.
