How can anyone know what card you are holding? Why can't you ever win at Three-Card Monte? Dar-Wei Chen will show how human principles like memory, expectation and perception are used in card magic.
There’s an expression in magic, “The door to magic is closed, but it’s not locked.” If you want to take a peek behind this door, join us for a fun afternoon when psychologist Ph.D. Dar-Wei Chen will perform card tricks and then reveal some of the psychological concepts and techniques that power the tricks.
Dar-Wei Chen holds a doctorate in psychology (Georgia Tech, 2018) and during the day, he uses his expertise to perform research for federal government agencies such as the Department of Defense (DoD), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). At night, he turns into “The Great Dar-Weini” (as almost no one actually calls him), who uses his psychology prowess to perform card magic and help others learn some tricks of the trade.
