Each week, teens will explore elliptic curves' mathematical properties and uses.

Ever wonder how your phone encrypts your messages? Or how to tell that a website truly belongs to a business? The tool at work is "elliptic curves!"

In partnership with the University of Arkansas Mathematics Department, teens will explore what elliptic curves are and how they are created. Then we'll use it in cryptographic applications such as sharing messages no one else can read, signing documents, and protecting private information.

This program is open to all teens in grades 8-12. While there are no prerequisites or programming experience required, mathematical maturity is preferred. Bringing a personal or school laptop or checking out a library laptop is also preferred.

Registration is required and will open on August 14th at 9:00am.

All abilities are welcome. For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7170 or email kidsquestions@faylib.org 2–3 weekdays before a program.
