Start and learn the joy of sketching alongside our former visiting artist Laura Ramirez in an environment where beginners and experienced artists alike can learn, progress and create together.
Interested in sketching? Join our monthly Sketching Club at the Center for Innovation. Open to all skill levels, this group offers a chance to practice sketching with guidance from our former visiting artist Laura Ramirez. Whether you're just starting out or have experience, the club is a great way to improve your skills and connect with other local artists and sketchers.
Each session covers key techniques and concepts, helping participants build a strong foundation or refine existing abilities. Materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own supplies.
No need for prior experience—just come ready to sketch.
About the artist:
Laura Ramirez is a local Fayetteville artist and designer, originally from the Dominican Republic. Her studio Pattern Etch allows her to create and explore the world around her. The medium usually varies from charcoal to acrylic to watercolors, with the sole purpose of giving each pattern the exploration it deserves. The paintings come from an ongoing study of the built environment and nature. As a trained architect her work is, for the most part, structured and geometrical. She considers her work to be based on “place”, not a physical space, but the place created by experiences, experimentation and studies of her surroundings whether that is the sand at the beach, the mountains, details on a building or the woods.
All abilities are welcome. For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7050 or email centerforinnovation@faylib.org 2-3 days before a program.
This program is designed for participants 13 and older.
